The office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has created a number of online resources designed to help educators explore the issue of online privacy in the classroom. They look applicable for older students but it never hurts to find out info on what is really going on in the digital world. Check them out or pass them on to appropriate teachers in your school.
One lesson in particular that sounds interesting is this digital literacy lesson plan that encourages grade 7 and 8 students to play the role of ‘Junior Privacy Investigators’. Students to sleuthing around their favourite websites and apps to find out what information these sites and apps collect about them, and what the information is being used for.
